Located in a National Register Historic District, this building was designed to be harmonious with neighboring eighteenth century residential and commercial properties. To contextually integrate the new building, intensive research of vernacular architectural forms and details was essential. Functionally critical to the client was the need to incorporate a vault, an automatic teller machine, a drive through service window and a wide array of highly-technical banking and security equipment, all of which contrasted in appearance with the bank’s traditional facade. Working closely with the local Historical Society and Philadelphia’s largest banking company, UCI Architects was able to satisfy both client and community desires.
