This project consists of a one story dining addition to Kelly Hall dormitory on Drexel University’s campus. The dining addition accommodates three fast food vendors with service and back of house areas along with seating, study, and lounge space. UCI Architects was on a shortlist team for this design/build competition. Our goals for the project are to accommodate the vendors' requirements for food preparation and advertisement while providing a place for students to relax, study, and dine. The vendors’ customer areas are positioned to be visible and enticing to passersby while the service area is accessible to a shared prep area and loading dock. The indoor seating spills out to the terrace where occupants can sit under the shade of the trees. In the winter months, the centerpiece of the dining hall is an oversized hearth.
