Germantown Avenue Multi-Cultural Heritage Corridor
Historic Preservation

To capitalize on the history of this important thoroughfar for tourism and community enrichment, the Multi-Cultural Heritag Corridor Plan recognizes as critical tasks: engendering a perception of the Germantown destination, improving transportation access, creating a welcoming environment, and expanding hospitality businesses. UCI Architects completed a thorough survey and analysis of the corridor’s assets, shortcomings, and opportunities. Four mini-hubs were identified, each with a critical mass of activity, amenity, and identity that would serve as models and points of stimulus for the Corridor as a whole and provide a cohesive sequence of experiences. Streetscape improvements, development, landscaping, parking, and creation of outdoor spaces were all explored.

Completion: 1999
Location: Philadelphia, PA
