Rutgers University decided to expand its research to encompass the field of marine biology. Located in a remote fishing and oystering village on Delaware Bay, the massing of the building is broken into smaller wings to evoke the nearby fishing cottages. The exterior is clad in weathered wood siding and wood shake shingles to harmonize with the local building materials and the surrounding marshlands. Architectural services for the new research center included programming, design documentation, and construction contract administration.
