Philadelphia Youth Center
Community

The Philadelphia Youth Center is a youth detention facility located in West Philadelphia. The project is carefully composed on this busy urban intersection to create a serene internal campus environment including interior courtyards for outdoor recreation and intimate meditation gardens. The building is divided into living, learning, dining, recreation, counseling, medical, judicial and administrative areas. The completed project will replace a deteriorating and overcrowded facility for the City of Philadelphia. The primary goals are safety, youth enrichment, and development for the adjacent neighborhood. The design team has employed the practice of integrated design and sustainability from conception. This project is anticipating LEED Silver certification.

Completion: 2011
Location: Philadelphia, PA
150,000 Sq.Ft.
