The Philadelphia Zoo wished to improve the experience of the visiting public upon arrival at the front gate by relocating the ticket sales offices inside of the front gate plaza. We designed the conversion of an existing open-air souvenir sales office to an enclosed ticket sales office. A newly created ticket line with turnstiles required shelter for the ticket takers and the equipment. To conform to the Victorian context of the North Gate, we designed a canopy that resembles the trellis found in a Victorian garden. A new sales office building was also provided for the Tree House and Swan Pond. This project also included coordination with ticketing equipment suppliers and the zoo’s data and voice network.
